We are always seeking for a talented and motivated designer who might be a good “fit” for our unique team.
We are a boutique design firm based in San Francisco and Tokyo focusing on select clients and international projects. We are a highly collaborative group of passionate individuals engaged in open-minded exploration of beauty, experience, ecology and the myriad contributions of open space to life in the urban environment. We focus on building places as much as ideas. While we are led by experienced design leaders, we believe that the best ideas can come from anywhere, perhaps you.
We believe landscape architecture is more art than science, but do not shun the latter. We embrace technologies in the design process not because we can do more work for our clients faster, but because that technology allows us to explore design more fully, devoting the proper time and attention to each project and each detail. We model every aspect of every project as fully as possible. For that reason we do require proficiency in a few key skills based on the tools that we’ve come to prefer, though we are always open to learning new ways of doing and communicating.
Ideally you would have knowledge in some or all of the following:
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment
An open mind and eagerness to grow your skills
Previous office experience is desirable but not required (All experience levels are welcome)
Quick idea diagramming and sketching by hand or using Adobe Suite
Proficient in Auto CAD, 3-D modelling skills using Rhino (grasshopper is plus), SketchUp, etc.
Interest in exploring physical clay modelling
Rendering skills in Lumion and Photoshop, etc.
Broad technical knowledge on details and construction is a plus.
Experience of putting together documentations is a plus.
At ma, you will be working closely with a talented and enthusiastic team as well as Aki Omi and Steve Hanson who have worked together for over twenty years and built many successful projects like Beijing Expo, China Resources Headquarters, Tokyo Midtown, Port of Los Angles Waterfront, University of Cincinnati, Hangzhou Quarry Park, and In the Forest.
We are currently working on a number of exciting projects such as Shenzhen Flower Park, Hangzhou Asian Games, a high-profile IT Research and Development Center and Headquarters …and more. You will be involved in projects from the beginning to the end and your experience at ma will be rich but focused. We are looking for your special talents to join our journey.

※定期的に業務可能な方歓迎

ランドスケープ/建築/美術系大学・大学院もしくは高等専門学校の在学生でランドスケープ専攻もしくは興味がある方
